This beautiful teal crystal Pairpoint Glass cup plate features The Lafayette, a local paddle wheel vessel. After George Washington, General Lafayette was the most popular Revolutionary War hero. The letters "SM" stand for Sandwich Museum. This plate started pressing in 1978 and ended in 1980 when the mould was destroyed. The plates were made specifically for the Sandwich Historical Society, and were meant to be similar to the plates originally produced at the Boston and Sandwich Glass Co. The plate was made on a hand press from 1850. Your plate, along with the Pairpoint label/sticker, will be carefully packaged in a vintage box. Cup plates are small, round decorative glass coaster-like collectibles that will glisten and sparkle in the sunlight when placed on window sills. The crystal plates make unique gifts. I have used them for hostess gifts while traveling, bridal shower tea bag coasters (guest favors in wedding colors), place setting butter pats, and a customer bought many plates in one theme for a stained glass window. Size: Approximately 3.5" in diameter Shipping: Orders are mailed the next business day in a padded bubble mailer via First Class USPS mail from Maine. Shipping additional plates in the same order adds $1.00 each. Priority mail is also available. Photos: Review photos to verify condition. The pictures are taken close and could show blemishes that are not necessarily seen by the naked eye. The photos that show the greatest detail generally appear a little different than the actual color. I am happy to take additional photos for you. Condition: Hand pressing on historic presses ensures each plate is unique. The thickness and colors are not exact from plate to plate, and no cup plate will be flawless. Unlike mass production, hand production will inevitably produce irregularities. It is normal that plates have manufacturing bubbles or shear marks. If a cup plate does not have a Pairpoint label/sticker on it or in the box, the label was removed or the plate was not graded as first quality. If included, the sticker will be visible in one of the photos or I will write a notation indicating the label is in the box. Risk Free 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed: If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, please let me know. I accept returns and offer full refunds including shipping. Made in America: The Pairpoint Glass Co. of Sagamore, MA, which is on Cape Cod, is the oldest glass making company in the USA. The company is well-known for manufacturing cup plates since the 1920's. The majority of the vintage cup plates were commissioned by historical societies, museums, churches, and other non-profit organizations. About me as a Seller: The majority of the cup plates I sell belonged to my mother, who was a very active member of Cape Cod's Pairpoint Cup Plate Collectors of America (PCPCA). She enjoyed over a thousand of these little plates, and had most, if not all, of the limited editions. Each cup plate has a unique story, and I enjoy researching a plate's history.
